The Coping Nest

Helping little hearts navigate big feelings with Child Life, Art and Music Therapy support right where your child feels safest.

Who We Are

  • At The Coping Nest, we believe children heal best when they feel safe, understood, and supported by the people they trust most; their families and caregivers. Our approach is gentle, developmentally informed, and grounded in the belief that every child deserves compassionate guidance through life’s big feelings.

We connect families with Certified Child Life Specialists, Art Therapists, and Music Therapists who use evidence-based, child-centered practices to help little ones make sense of overwhelming emotions, grief, medical experiences, anxiety, or major life transitions.

Through play, creativity, expressive techniques, and honest, developmentally appropriate communication, our specialists support children in ways that feel natural, warm, and comforting. Sessions can take place in your home, virtually, or wherever your child feels most at ease.

    Our approach honors:

    • The emotional world of each child

    • The strengths and intuition of caregivers

    • The power of connection, creativity, and play

    • The importance of meeting families exactly where they are

Because when a child feels supported, they begin to understand their experiences and find the tools to grow through them.

  • The Coping Nest was created with a simple but powerful purpose:
to make emotional support accessible, comforting, and grounded in compassion for every family.

    We believe:

    • Children deserve gentle guidance through hard moments.

    • Parents shouldn’t have to navigate big feelings alone.

    • Emotional support should feel safe, warm, and human.

    • Healing grows from trust, creativity, and connection.

    • Every child’s story and experience matters deeply.

Our mission is to help families feel supported by providing access to trained professionals who offer evidence based strategies wrapped in empathy, softness, and understanding.

Whether facing grief, medical uncertainty, developmental challenges, anxiety, behavior struggles, or big transitions, we aim to be a place where families can land, breathe, and receive the support they deserve.

At its core, The Coping Nest exists to nurture emotional wellbeing and empower families with the tools, language, and confidence to help their children thrive.

  • The Coping Nest grew from real conversations, real families, and real moments where parents said:

“I just wish someone could help us through this.”
“I don’t know how to explain this to my child.”
“I wish support like this could come to our home.”

As a Certified Child Life Specialist and parent myself, I have walked alongside children and families navigating grief, fear, hospital visits, big emotions, and difficult questions. Again and again, I saw the impact of how calm, intentional, and developmentally supportive care can make a difference within the hospital setting. Which led me to my passion of serving all children who didn’t have access to these services outside of the hospital environment.

I created The Coping Nest to fill that gap.

This space was built so families could access the kind of support that feels gentle, comforting, and personal. A place where children can express themselves freely, where parents can find guidance and reassurance, and where trained therapeutic professionals can offer meaningful, heartfelt care directly to families.

What started as one-on-one moments of helping friends’ children through loss and big emotions has grown into a platform centered around connection, compassion, and expert support.

The Coping Nest is more than a service, it’s a safe place to land during your life’s hardest moments.

Common Reasons Families Reach Out

Parenting can be joyful, but sometimes children face moments that feel overwhelming, confusing, or scary and families want guidance, reassurance, and support. Caregivers often reach out to The Coping Nest when they need help navigating big emotions or challenging situations, including:

  • Medical experiences: preparation and support for doctor visits, dental appointments, surgeries, hospital stays, new diagnoses or procedures

  • Grief & loss: coping with the passing of a loved one, family member, or pet

  • Family transitions: adjusting to a new sibling, a sibling in the NICU, moving, or divorce

  • Emotional regulation: tantrums, anxiety, worries, or emotional shutdowns

  • Behavioral challenges: struggles with boundaries, frustration, or acting out

  • Developmental support: milestones, play, or social-emotional skills

  • Sensory & environmental stressors: overstimulation, sensitivity to noise, or new environments

  • Coping skills: helping children express feelings, process change, or build resilience

Our specialists provide guidance, coping tools, and expressive therapies delivered where your child feels safest: at home, virtually, or in a location of your choosing.

Every child is unique, and so is every challenge. We’re here to help your little heart navigate big feelings.
